Meditations for Heart and Mind: Deepening Presence – Learn the ancient practices of mindfulness, loving kindness, forgiveness and compassion to calm the mind and open the heart. Hospice of Spokane’s Community Memorial Tree – A unique opportunity for area residents to honor their departed loved ones by decorating a paper dove in their memory and hanging it on the tree. Babysitting Basics – Course for youth ages 10-15 to prepare them with the skills they need to be a successful babysitter. Class covers topics such as: how to care for infants, toddlers and older children, CPR and first aid for infants and children, discipline issues, safety, and business basics. Exercise Classes and Events – Balance and Agility: Class designed for those who need additional help with balance and control and for those who want to further enhance the way they respond to balance and increase strength and control. Held Thursdays through Jan. 20, 1-2 p.m., beginning this Thursday. Mat Yoga: Explore the gentle movements to increase flexibility, strength, and well-being. Class covers body stretches, yoga postures and breathing practices. “Aging Well” Classes and Events – Meditation 101 – While meditating, we are free to experience inner peace, improve our well-being, cope with stress, find lasting joy, develop loving relationships, and appreciate each other and life. Held Tuesdays, Dec. 14-Jan. 18, 3-4 p.m. Cost is $36. Reiki: Class provides an overview of this ancient Japanese healing art and how it works on healing the body, mind and spirit. Blood Drive at Whitman County Library – Today, 2-6 p.m., at 102 S. Main St., Colfax. A mobile collection unit from the Inland Northwest Blood Center will be on hand to screen applicants and accept donations of blood.
