Cougs disrespectful?
This basketball season I have had the opportunity to attend three WSU men’s games. Each has been entertaining from the jump ball to the final horn.
As a basketball fan, it has been fun to watch the team perform at such a high level, night in and night out. And while I have enjoyed watching the way Ken Bone coaches, I have noticed something in all three games that has troubled me quite a bit. Just prior to the national anthem being sung, the WSU players and coaches leave for what I am assuming is their pregame.
As a basketball coach, I understand the importance of a pregame, but I believe they can find time to both meet as a team and honor our country. Regardless of the intent, I find this action to be both disrespectful and offensive.
The national anthem is a chance for all Americans to stand united in honor of our country. I hope Coach Bone and any other coach who has made this choice in the past will reconsider.
