Decomposed body found in CdA forest

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an unattended death after hunters found a body Sunday morning at a Coeur d’Alene National Forest campsite. Two hunters were on the Canfield Trail System, about four miles east of the Fernan Gun Range, hunting for shed antlers when they came upon a campsite and found the body. Deputies and Forest Service officers responded and found the body badly decomposed in a collapsed tent. They believe the individual may have been a transient. Due to the decomposition, the sex and identity are unknown. An autopsy has been performed and there were no signs of trauma, officials. The cause of death is unknown.
