Hounds stop Stags

Once again, the team nearest Great Northern League leader Clarkston stumbled as Deer Park (12-6, 8-4) fell 53-42 to surging Pullman (9-9, 8-4) Friday in Pullman.

Wade Meyer paced the Greyhounds – who now sit in a three-way tie for second place in the GNL – with 18 points and five rebounds and helped lead an 11-2 fourth-quarter run that turned a two-point contest into an 11-point Pullman lead by game’s end.

Colville 55, Medical Lake 53: Jordan Anderson and Cruze Thompson combined for 22 points and the Indians (4-13, 3-8) held off a late run by the Cardinals (2-16, 1-11) to earn the win in Medical Lake. Devon Prince cut the deficit to one for the Cardinals with 9 seconds remaining, scoring the last three of his 18 points, but they could not connect on a potential winner as time expired.

District 7 1A

Lakeside 56, Chewelah 41: Chris Cocharane hit 7 of 8 from the field and finished with 18 points, Bo Smokoska added 10 points and 15 rebounds and the Eagles (10-12) outscored the Cougars (13-9) 16-9 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory at Mead. The Eagles will play Freeman 6:30 p.m. Friday at Mead to determine the No. 1 seed to the regional tournament while Chewelah will play Newport in a 3:30 loser-out game.

Freeman 65, Newport 38: Taylor Vold tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds and Jered Hinch scored 15 points off the bench as the Scotties (17-4) used a 22-4 run in the third quarter to put the Grizzlies (8-14) away in Freeman.

Bi-County 2B tourney

Northwest Christian 53, Colfax 41: Reuben Clark had 20 points, Kwinn Hanson added 15 and the Crusaders (19-3) outscored the Bulldogs (15-7) 35-19 in the second half to earn the comeback win in Reardan, to claim the tournament title and the No. 1 seed to district.

Davenport 61, Lind-Ritzville 56: Morgan Scharff had 15 of his 19 points in the second half and added 10 rebounds to lead the Gorillas (17-6) to a third-place finish with a win over the Broncos (16-7) in Reardan. James Stevenson had 23 points for L-R.

District 9 North

Tekoa-Oakesdale 68, Pomeroy 49: Senior Drake Hinkins scored 22 points and the host Nighthawks (6-14, 3-3) closed the regular season on a high note, shooting 49 percent from the floor and 60 percent from 3-point range to beat the Pirates (6-13, 2-4).

Intermountain

Priest River 58, Kellogg 48: Max Salesky, Jake Weimer and Eric Holbrook combined for 22 of the Spartans’ (15-3, 6-0) 24 fourth-quarter points as they came from behind to beat the Wildcats (11-8, 3-4) in Priest River.

St. Maries 69, Bonners Ferry 53: Zach Lehman had 23 points and the Lumberjacks (8-6, 4-3) scored 42 points in the first half against the Badgers (5-11, 2-4) to take control of the game early in St. Maries.

North Star

Wallace 62, Lakeside 49: Clancy Drews led all scorers with 18 points and Kyle Vester and Zach St. Clair each added 12 as the Miners (9-9, 6-1) beat the Knights (7-9, 2-3) in Plummer.

Caribou Trail

Lake Roosevelt 70, Cascade 56: Cade Egbert scored 23 points and Ty Egbert added 15 and the host Raiders (14-7, 11-4) upended the Kodiaks (15-6, 9-6) at Coulee Dam.

Nonleague

Moscow 71, Lake City 64 (2OT): Mac Stannard scored 22 points, hitting 8 of his 13 free throws, and the Bears (14-6) outdueled the Timberwolves (11-9), outscoring them 9-2 in the second overtime in Moscow.

Lewiston 51, Sandpoint 36: Justin Podrabsky scored 17 points and the host Bengals (10-9) outscored the Bulldogs (6-14) 32-10 in the second half.
