Acquired The Milwaukee Bucks acquired forward Corey Maggette in a trade Tuesday with the Golden State Warriors, sending them guard Charlie Bell and center Dan Gadzuric in return. The Bucks also get a second-round pick from the Warriors in Thursday night’s NBA draft.
Signed The Montreal Canadiens signed leading scorer Tomas Plekanec to a six-year, $30 million contract. The center was eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Plekanec led Montreal last season with 70 points.
Scheduled Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum’s injured right knee has been drained for the third time in recent weeks, and the two-time NBA champion will have surgery next month to repair a partially torn meniscus in his knee.
Suspended NASCAR suspended former driver Randy LaJoie for failing a drug test, and he said he’s enrolled in a substance-abuse program. LaJoie, who has not raced at any of NASCAR’s top three national levels since 2006, said in a statement that he smoked marijuana once in May. He was tested because he applied for a license to become a spotter.
•University of Arizona coach Mike Stoops says senior wide receiver Delashaun Dean has been suspended indefinitely from the football team “due to a violation of team rules.” The Arizona Daily Star reported Dean was arrested Saturday and charged with one count of misconduct involving weapons.
Drafted The Harlem Globetrotters’ 2010 draft class includes former University of Montana guard Anthony Johnson and his wife, former Lady Griz guard Shaunte Nance-Johnson, the team announced. The couple from Tacoma are among a group of six players who are invited to fall training camp to vie for a spot on the Globetrotters roster.
Recovering Cyclist Kim Kirchen of Luxembourg has been taken out of a medically controlled coma, four days after a heart attack. He will remain hospitalized as doctors try to find the cause of the heart attack.
Confirmed Team RadioShack has confirmed that Lance Armstrong will ride in next month’s Tour de France. He will be joined by Andreas Kloeden of Germany, Americans Levi Leipheimer and Chris Horner, and Janez Brajkovic of Slovenia. Also racing for RadioShack will be Portugal’s Sergio Paulinho, Yaroslav Popovych of Ukraine, Swiss rider Gregory Rast and Dmitriy Muravyev of Kazakhstan.
