Nebraska’s starting QB job up for grabs
LINCOLN, Neb. – Zac Lee’s misfortune looks like Cody Green’s opportunity.
While Lee sits out the spring recovering from offseason surgery on his right arm, Green has Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson’s full attention as he begins his bid to unseat Lee as starting quarterback.
Coach Bo Pelini said this week that incumbency means nothing and every job is open every year until the best player emerges.
Considering the Huskers were 99th in offense and 75th in scoring last season, Green is poised to get a good, long look as the only experienced returning quarterback in spring practice.
“We have something to prove,” Green said Wednesday. “We’re sticking to the stuff we do, and we’re going to run it to perfection and do that in a game.”
Idaho plays at Nebraska on Sept. 11.
