Signed Cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones agreed to a two-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals, putting the troubled cornerback on a team with a history of giving players second chances. Cincinnati was among a handful of teams that showed an interest in Jones, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys after the 2008 season and didn’t play last year.

•The Denver Broncos beefed up their offensive line by signing free agent Maurice Williams, who spent his first nine season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Of Williams’ 100 career starts, 86 have come at right tackle, 12 at right guard and two at left tackle. The Jaguars selected Williams in the second round of the 2001 draft out of the University of Michigan.

Fined Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge was fined $25,000 by the NBA for tossing a towel to try and distract Cleveland forward J.J. Hickson as he shot a free throw. Ainge, who was sitting courtside under the Cavs’ basket, flipped a white towel over his head during the third quarter of Monday night’s playoff game between Boston and Cleveland.

Confirmed Butler’s 6-foot-9 sophomore forward Gordon Hayward confirmed that he will remain in the draft, giving up his final two years of college eligibility. Most analysts projected Hayward to go somewhere between No. 10 and 20 when he declared last month, and Hayward said the projections haven’t changed since then.

Sidelined Golfer Anthony Kim had surgery on his left thumb, which will keep him out of the U.S. Open and possibly the British Open this summer. Kim is expected to be out for 10-12 weeks as he recovers from surgery.

Announcing Major League Soccer has called a news conference for today to announce it is awarding an expansion team to Montreal. The team will start play in 2012 and be the league’s 19th city. Portland and Vancouver, British Columbia, were announced in March 2009 as MLS expansion teams for 2011.

Tested Two Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race mushers tested positive for THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana. But Iditarod Trail Committee executive director Stan Hooley said a new rule calling for drug testing isn’t clear enough to impose sanctions against the mushers.
