Prep roundup: Almira/Coulee-Hartline storms into final
YAKIMA – Almira/Coulee-Hartline powered into today’s State 1B volleyball championship match with a 3-1 semifinal win over Tekoa-Oakesdale on Thursday at the SunDome.
The Warriors dropped the first set 25-19 before closing out T-O 25-17, 25-22 and 25-23.
ACH will play Christian Faith at 6:30 tonight for the title.
T-O will meet Wilbur-Creston at 2 p.m. in the match for third and sixth places.
Christian faith defeated W-C 25-6, 15-25, 25-21, 25-21 in the other semifinal.
Today’s play will begin with 10:30 a.m. loser-out contests matching Klickitat against Northport and Colton against Pomeroy. The winners will play at 2 p.m. for fifth and eighth places.
ACH, which finished in sixth place last year, began the day with a sweep of Neah Bay. In the quarterfinals, the Warriors outlasted Moses Lake Christian 25-11, 22-25, 20-25, 25-8, 15-10.
T-O opened by sweeps of Northport and Seton Catholic.
W-C rallied to beat Pomeroy in its opener, taking the final two games 25-23, 15-12. The Wildcats lost their first quarterfinal set against King’s Way Christian before taking the final three games.
Colton began the day with a 3-2 loss to Christian Faith before sweeping Three Rivers Christian.
