Pac 10 roundup: Beavers continue to thwart Trojans
Ryan Katz threw for 154 yards and two touchdowns while Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 128 yards and another score, and Oregon State defeated No. 20 Southern California 36-7 on Saturday night in Corvallis, Ore.
The Beavers (5-5, 4-3 Pac-10) built a 20-0 lead by halftime, hoping to avoid their first three-game losing streak since 2002.
The Trojans (7-4, 4-4) lost QB Matt Barkley to a sprained left ankle just before the break. But they were already doomed by the Beavers, who are fighting for bowl eligibility.
USC has lost three straight in Corvallis, including a 27-21 upset to the Beavers in 2008, which was their only loss and cost them a shot at the national championship.
(7) Stanford 48, California 14: Andrew Luck threw two TD passes and led Stanford to scores on all eight possessions he played as the Cardinal beat the Golden Bears in Berkeley, Calif., for their most lopsided win in the Big Game in 80 years.
Luck guided Stanford (10-1, 7-1 Pac-10) to just its second win in the past nine games against Cal (5-6, 3-5). The Cardinal did it in emphatic fashion 28 years to the day after being stunned on this same field by The Play.
Luck carved up the Pac-10’s top-ranked defense and tied Cal’s record set in 1975 for the most points scored in the rivalry.
