Pac 10 roundup: Arizona wins 3-OT thriller

Lamont Jones hit a go-ahead lay-in with 1:03 left in the third overtime and also had a tying 3-pointer with 5 seconds to go in the second OT and the tying three-point play late in regulation, sending No. 21 Arizona to a thrilling 107-105 victory over California in Pac-10 play Saturday in Berkeley, Calif.

Jones finished with a career-high 27 points in the Wildcats’ fifth straight win, and Kevin Parrom added a career-best 25 points.

Harper Kamp scored a career-high 33 points for the Bears, who had a four-game win streak snapped.

This marked Cal’s longest home game since a five-overtime, 107-102 victory over Oregon in 1977. The Bears won a triple-overtime game at Washington in January 2009.

Stanford 83, Arizona State 75: Jeremy Green scored a season-high 23 points and Josh Owens added 16 as the Cardinal defeated the Sun Devils in Stanford, Calif.

Jamelle McMillan scored 17 points to lead the Sun Devils, who lost their seventh straight.

UCLA 66, St. John’s 59: Joshua Smith scored 19 points off the bench and Reeves Nelson grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to lead the Bruins over the Red Storm (13-9) and former UCLA coach Steve Lavin in Los Angeles.

It was Lavin’s first visit to Pauley Pavilion as an opposing coach, coming nearly eight years after he was fired.
