Your week
YOUR HEALTH
Sure, Valentine’s Day is a time for kisses, but you might want to draw the line when it comes to your dog.
People who let their pets lick them, give them “kisses” or sleep with them are at risk for a variety of diseases known as zoonoses, ranging from mundane to life-threatening, according to a new article in the journal Emerging Infectious Diseases.
Pasteurella multocida, an infection commonly resulting from pet licks, can cause everything from mild respiratory symptoms to serious conditions including endocarditis, an inflammation of the heart.

YOUR HOME
Planning a move? Here are some tips to keep the folks who are hauling your belongings happy, from the American Moving and Storage Association:
• Take time to meet your crew members and make them feel welcome. Always have one responsible adult available throughout the move to answer questions.
• Consider their needs and comfort. Offer access to drinking water and designate a bathroom for their use. Most crews greatly appreciate coffee in the morning and the offer to pick up a fast lunch.
• Have disposable paper towels handy, to save your linens and other items from the possibility of moving-related grime.
• Make arrangements to keep small children and pets occupied so they don’t get in the way.
