Cougar sophomores shine at Indoor Invitational

PULLMAN – Washington State sophomores Shaquana Logan and Stephen Scott-Ellis were double winners at the Cougar Indoor Invitational, a two-day meet concluding Saturday, at WSU’s Indoor Facility. WSU’s men’s and women’s team won all three of their dual contests against Idaho, Montana and Utah State.

Logan scored big points for the Cougar women, winning the 60-meter hurdles in a personal-record time of 8.66 seconds, taking the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 5 inches, and then added a second-place finish in the 200 (PR 25.82).

Scott-Ellis was Friday night’s long jump winner at 24-0 3/4 and returned to the sandpit Saturday to claim the triple jump with a leap of 50-1 1/4.

WSU’s Sean Harris won the men’s heptathlon with a PR 5,022 points.

Transfer Chanel James led a first through fourth Cougar finish in the 60-meter dash with a 7.79 time. Morgan Clem won the 200 in 25.42 and Ruby Roberts won the 800 in a PR time of 2:15.90. High jumper Holly Parent equaled her 2010 meet record of 5-8 3/4.

“It was a good, solid performance across the board for the Cougs,” WSU coach Rick Sloan said.
