WV forges tie atop GNL

Brady Bagby scored a game-high 24 points to go with five rebounds and four assists and West Valley (13-2, 7-1) toppled the last remaining unbeaten in the Great Northern League, beating Clarkston (13-2, 7-1) 57-52 Saturday at WV.

The Eagles, who now share the top spot in the GNL with the Bantams, took a 17-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and never trailed, holding off late runs by Clarkston to earn the win. Tommy Sperry led the Bantams with 18 points.

Pullman 54, East Valley 46: After scoring just four points in the opening quarter, the host Greyhounds (12-3, 6-2) outscored the Knights (9-6, 2-5) 50-37, led by 23 points from Corey Langerveld. Langerveld hit 9 of 16 from the floor and added five rebounds, while Samuel Nordquist added nine points. Jake Reynolds and Joey Strehlou each had 13 points to lead EV.

Medical Lake 53, Deer Park 41: Kevin Fisher tallied 18 points and Adam Paulson added 17 as the Cardinals (8-8, 2-6) used a 17-6 run in the first quarter to put the host Stags (4-12, 0-8) away early. Logan McIssacc tallied 13 points to lead DP, which started GNL play with eight straight losses.

IEL 5A

Lewiston 78, Lake City 65: Jay Thomason hit four 3-pointers in the opening half and finished with 25 points as the Bengals (7-6, 2-2) used a 26-8 run in the first quarter to build a lead they would never relinquish against the visiting Timberwolves (11-4, 2-2). Mark Smyly had 19 points to lead LC, while Chris Wheelock added 16 points.

Intermountain

Priest River 77, Kellogg 70: Max Salesky hit 5 of 9 3-point attempts and finished with 30 points and Eric Holbrook added 18 points and seven assists as the host Spartans (10-4, 2-0) outscored the Wildcats (10-4, 2-2) 28-6 in the third quarter to erase a five-point halftime deficit. The Wildcats, led by Garrett Wendt’s 18 points, scored 26 in the fourth, but could not overcome the 17-point deficit.

St. Maries 68, Bonners Ferry 55: Missing top scorer Zach Lehman, the Lumberjacks (12-2, 3-0) did not miss a beat against the Badgers (1-9, 0-2) getting 17 points and six rebounds from Warren Joiner and 13 points and 11 boards from Ian Heath in St. Maries. Mat Evans scored 21 points to lead BF.

Bi-County 2B

Northwest Christian 68, Reardan 41: Kwinn Hanson dominated the first half for the Crusaders (14-1, 11-0), scoring 20 of his 27 points before the break, giving them an 18-point halftime lead over the host Indians (8-6, 7-3). Jake Hight had 12 points to lead the Indians, while Dakota Winward added 12 for NWC.

Colfax 70, Kettle Falls 25: Justin Berarducci scored a game-high 15 points, J.J. Robinson added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists and Colfax (12-2, 9-1) shot 66 percent from the floor for the game, going 16 of 22 in the second half against visiting Kettle Falls (1-14, 0-11).

Springdale 74, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 56: Kendall and Uconn Peone combined for 47 points and went 17 of 30 from the free-throw line, helping lift the visiting Chargers (5-9, 3-8) to a win over the Broncos (7-8, 4-7). Kendall Peone scored a game-high 27 points, while Uconn Peone added 20. Springdale outscored LRS 60-46 in the final three quarters.

Bi-County 1B

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 78, Wilbur-Creston 30: Derek Isaak finished with a game-high 22 points, Thunder Wellhausen added 10 points and seven rebounds and the Warriors (15-0, 4-0) outscored the visiting Wildcats (9-6, 1-4) 72-26 in the first three quarters. Robert Hurka and Cody Jess each scored 14 points for ACH, which doled out 17 team assists as four players finished in double figures.

Valley Christian 45, Odessa-Harrington 32: Ross Tabbert and Bo Piersol each finished with 11 points and the visiting Panthers (12-3, 4-1) jumped out early against the Titans (4-12, 1-4), building a 19-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Justin Hunt led OH with 14 points.

Curlew 60, Columbia 36: Dakota Drennan and Chris Browning combined for 33 points and the Cougars (7-9, 4-7) used an 11-4 run in the third quarter to pull away for good against the visiting Lions (2-15, 2-9). Dustin Wyborney led the Lions with 12 points and Jamie Zerck added 11 for the Cougars.

Northport 60, Selkirk 45: Michal Marko finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Philip Johnson added 15 points as the Mustangs (8-8, 6-5) outlasted the Rangers (5-12, 4-7) in Ione. Nick Gardner finished with 14 points and 14 boards for the Rangers, who had Hunter Enyeart (10 points) and Trevor Grant (eight points) foul out in the fourth quarter.

Wellpinit 87, Republic 51: Drake Wynne tallied 20 points as the game-high and A.J. Kieffer and Kennedy Seyler each added 17 points as the host Redskins (14-4, 10-1) cruised to the win against the Tigers (6-11). Greg Wynecoop tallied 10 points and 16 rebounds for the Redskins, who outscored the Tigers 46-23 in the second half.

Southeast 1B

Garfield-Palouse 69, St. John-Endicott 66 (OT): Blake Slocum finished with 26 points for the Vikings (8-7, 6-4) and hit a 3-pointer at the end of the regulation to force overtime against the Eagles (7-8, 5-5). J.B. Lange added 17 points for the Vikings, who outscored SJE 9-6 in the overtime period to earn the win.

Rosalia 48, Tekoa-Oakesdale 40: Flash Hodges and Nathan Richards each tallied 11 points, Jared Hereford added nine points and nine rebounds and the Spartans (15-1, 10-0) held off the visiting Nighthawks (4-12, 3-7) to remain in the top spot.

Pomeroy 57, LaCrosse-Washtucna 27: Sean Beale led all scorers with 15 points and the Pirates (3-10, 3-7) outscored the host Tigercats (6-9, 3-7) 34-7 in the second half to pull away for the win. Chris Wargo scored 10 points to lead the Tigercats.

Nonleague

Post Falls 64, University 55: Connor Hill hit three 3-pointers and finished with 21 points and eight rebounds and Marcus Colbert added 14 points and six assists as the Trojans (12-2) held off the visiting Titans (11-3). U-Hi was led by Zech Martin’s 18 points and 17 from Brett Bailey, but the Titans could not close the gap in the fourth quarter.

Coeur d’Alene Charter 65, Orofino 55: Greg Roman finished with 22 points and 10 rebounds and the visiting Panthers (12-2) knocked off the Maniacs, outscoring them 18-6 in the first quarter to take the lead for good.

St. Michael’s 78, Inchelium 64: Chris Shelley and Gabe Durazo poured in 26 and 23 points respectively and the Warriors (3-8) scored 50 points in the first half and then held off the visiting Hornets (3-11) after the break. Brandon Pachosa tallied a game-high 31 points in the loss for the Hornets.
