U.S. rolls to IFAF championship

VIENNA – Nate Kmic ran for two touchdowns, Henry Harry had 105 yards rushing and one score, and Cody Hawkins threw two TD passes to lead the United States to a 50-7 victory over Canada on Saturday to win the International Federation of American Football senior world championship.

The U.S., which won the previous IFAF title in Japan in 2007, led 30-0 in the first half on a 2-yard run by Kmic, a 23-yard run by Matt Bassuener, a safety, a 7-yard run by Cody Hawkins and 27-yard reception by Joe Sturdivant.

Canada got on the board on Michael Faulds’ 19-yard TD pass to David Stevens with 6 seconds remaining in the second quarter. However, Ricardo Lenhart scored on a 38-yard reception as time ran out to give the U.S. a 37-7 lead at halftime.

Kmic and Harris had scoring runs in the third quarter.
