Suspended Missouri suspended football coach Gary Pinkel without pay for the final home game of the season Thursday and froze his salary for a year following his overnight arrest on suspicion of drunken driving. Athletic director Mike Alden said Pinkel would miss the Tigers’ Big 12 game against Texas Tech on Saturday and the coach will donate a week’s worth of his base salary and guaranteed incentives – approximately $41,000 – to a campus alcohol-awareness program when he returns.

Sentenced Suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was sentenced to six years in prison for violating the terms of his probation for a drug conviction. State District Judge Denise Bradley in Houston imposed the sentence despite tearful pleas from Jolly and his mother, Phyllis Jolly, to allow the 6-foot-3, 325-pound lineman to be treated for his addiction to codeine instead of going to prison.

Selected Four-time major winner Hollis Stacy has been selected to the World Golf Hall of Fame. Stacy, selected through the veterans category, will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on May 7 at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla. Stacy won 18 times in her 26-year LPGA Tour career. Stacy will join Phil Mickelson in the induction class.

Fined Driver Brad Keselowski has been fined an undisclosed amount by NASCAR for criticizing electronic fuel injection, The Associated Press has learned. NASCAR has been privately punishing drivers for making disparaging remarks about the series over the last two years.

Cleared Track cycling world champion Alex Rasmussen was cleared of charges connected to missed doping tests by the Denmark Sports Federation doping committee. If the ruling stands, Rasmussen can compete next season for his new team.

Investigating Just two weeks after Penn State was rocked by a child sex-abuse scandal, Syracuse police said they were investigating child molesting allegations against a longtime assistant basketball coach at Syracuse University. The school placed Bernie Fine on administrative leave Thursday night “in light of the new allegations and the Syracuse City Police investigation.” ESPN said the accusations were made by two former ball boys.
