In brief: SCOPE shred day, sale this Saturday

NEWMAN LAKE – The Spokane County Sheriff’s Community Oriented Policing Effort in Newman Lake will have a garage sale and shred day on Saturday at the Newman Lake Tri-City Grange, 25025 E. Heather Lane.

The garage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the shred truck will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Shredding is limited to three file-sized boxes per person.

Free concert at Pavillion Park

LIBERTY LAKE – Oli Brown and Peter Rivera will perform at Pavillion Park, 22710 E. Country Vista Drive, on Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m. The event is part of the 2012 Friends of Pavillion Park concert series.

Picnic for recipients of Purple Hearts

COMSTOCK – Purple Heart recipients are invited to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 470’s annual picnic, at 1 p.m. Sunday at Comstock Park, 29th Avenue and Howard Street.
