Gonzaga women bounce back

Katelan Redmon scored 18 points, Kayla Standish recorded her third consecutive double-double and No. 19 Gonzaga bounced back from its worst conference women’s basketball loss in a decade to beat San Francisco 79-59 Saturday in San Francisco.

Jazmine Redmon added 10 points for the Bulldogs (22-4, 11-2), who moved into sole possession of first place in the West Coast Conference, one-half game ahead of BYU.

Rheina Ale scored 19 points and became San Francisco’s career leader for minutes played, but the Dons (4-22, 2-11) still lost their fifth straight.

Gonzaga hosts Santa Clara Thursday at 6 p.m.

Oregon 67, Washington State 62: Amanda Johnson scored 18 of her 23 points in the second half, helping the Ducks (14-11, 6-7) rally for a victory over the Cougars (10-15, 4-9).

Ariel Thomas added 13 points and Jasmin Holliday had 12 for the Ducks, who trailed by as many as 14 in the first half.

Carly Noyes led the Cougars with 12 points.

Johnson, who scored 10 of the Ducks’ final 12 points, hit a 3-pointer with a minute left to put Oregon ahead for good.

Jazmine Perkins had 10 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for WSU.

Pacific 78, Whitworth 70: Paige Jensen scored 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Loggers (12-10, 5-9) beat the Pirates (10-13, 6-8) in a Northwest Conference game in Forest Grove, Ore.

Lexi Belcher had 23 points and nine rebounds for Whitworth.

To earn a berth to the conference tournament, the Pirates will have to win their final two regular-season games and have Puget Sound lose its final two.

Whitworth plays at Whitman on Tuesday.

Oregon State 78, Washington 73: Reserve guard Mollee Schwegler scored a career-high 15 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Beavers (17-7, 8-5) beat the Huskies (13-10, 5-8) in a Pac-12 game in Seattle.

Jazmine Davis led Washington with 20 points. Regina Rogers added 16 points and seven rebounds and Mercedes Wetmore scored 12.

Louisiana Tech 61, Idaho 57: Shantale Bramble-Donaldson had 25 points and 14 rebounds as the Bulldogs (13-11, 6-3) clipped the Vandals (8-17, 3-6) at Cowan Spectrum in Moscow.

Keri Arendse scored 14 points and Alyssa Charlston and Stacey Barr added 10 points apiece for Idaho.

Barr’s game-tying 3-point attempt was off the mark on the Vandals’ final possession.

Idaho plays at Fresno State on Thursday.

Treasure Valley 82, CC Spokane 80 (OT): Brook Nielson had 23 points and seven rebounds and the Chukars (5-16, 3-7) slid past the Sasquatch (6-15, 1-8) in an NWAACC game at Spokane Falls Community College.

Erin Kelly added 15 points for Treasure Valley, which made 25 of 35 from the free-throw line. The Sasquatch made just 5 of 13 free throws.

Amanda Buttrey had 23 points and Jozlin Hicks added 18 for CCS.

The Sasquatch play at conference foe Walla Walla on Wednesday.

North Idaho 63, Eastern Utah 58: Katie Buskey scored 16 points and Julia Salmio added 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Cardinals (19-4, 8-2) edged the Eagles (13-12, 5-5) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game in Coeur d’Alene.

North Idaho hosts Salt Lake on Thursday.
