Preston Primmer earns Eagle Scout

Preston Primmer, a member of Boy Scout Troop 313 was given the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest awarded in the Boy Scouts.

For his project, Primmer built a campsite that is handicap accessible, including a raised tent platform.

He is the son of Randy and Patty Primmer of Spokane and will be a senior at Freeman High School.

• Five local residents recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Dean Borgford is a 2011 graduate of University High School and is the son of Doug Borgford of Spokane Valley.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Donald Kinlin graduated in 2009 from Gonzaga Prep and is the son of Don Kinlin of Spokane.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Arjun Espiritu is the son of Dom Espiritu of Spokane Valley.

Air Force Airman Peter Alkumeidy is the son of Korene Alkumeidy of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Laura Lloyd-Owen is the daughter of Michael Lloyd-Owen of Spokane Valley and Vivian Lloyd-Owen of Spokane.

• Army National Guard Pfc. Kanon Charbonneau graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He graduated from Mary Walker High School in Springdale in 2002 and is the son of Scott Charbonneau of Loon Lake and Claudia Tately of Spokane.

Stephanie Antonietti, the daughter of Dan and Joan Antonietti of Mead, graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Antonietti has been commissioned as an Ensign and will report for her first assignment on board the Coast Guard cutter Bear in Portsmouth, Va.

She is a 2007 graduate of the Royal Gorge Academy, Canon City, Colo.

Sean Wester recently graduated from the United States Military Academy. The son of Douglas and Leslie Wester of Spokane, Wester graduated from Folsom High School in Folsom, Calif. in 2006. He went to basic training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Wester was admitted to the Academy Prep School in Fort Monmouth, N.J., in 2007 after basic training. He received his appointment to West Point in 2008 and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army within the Aviation branch and will report to Fort Rucker, Ala., for his first assignment in August.

Elizabeth Sorrells, the daughter of Milt and Linda Maas of Spokane, has achieved the rank of major in the United States Air Force. Sorrells is a 1997 graduate of Ferris High School.

Rebecca Jhung, a freshman at Notre Dame University was named to the spring semester dean’s list for the 2011-’12 academic year. Jhung is the daughter of Bill and Sally Jhung of Spokane Valley, and a 2011 graduate of University High School.

Becky Harris, the daughter of Brent and Patricia Harris of Spokane, was recently awarded the 2012 Student Leadership Excellence Award and Climbing Wall Instructor of the Year at Eastern Washington University’s Epic Adventures. She graduated in 2008 from Ferris High School.

• Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont., announced area students named to its spring semester president’s and dean’s lists for the 2011-’12 academic year.
