Motorcyclist, bicyclist dead after collision
Two men are dead after a motorcycle struck a bicyclist in Spokane Valley on Saturday night, authorities said.
A woman said she and her husband were on an evening bicycle ride when the collision occurred.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said the bicyclists were westbound on East Buckeye Avenue in Spokane Valley and stopped at a stop sign at North Dick Road between 6:30 and 7 p.m.
The male cyclist then proceeded into the intersection, where he collided with the motorcyclist, who was northbound on Dick Road and did not have a stop sign. The motorcyclist was declared dead at a local hospital, the Sheriff’s Office said. The cyclist died later in the evening, KHQ reported.
It was not known if drugs, alcohol or speed were factors, but authorities did note that neighbors in the area had called police to complain about a motorcyclist driving around the area at high speed.
