8th Annual Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival - The seven films come from renowned filmmakers who search backcountry corners and from grassroots filmmakers who take a video camera out on weekend excursions. The entries are juried by a panel of judges and the top selections are assembled into a 90-minute program. Proceeds from this event will provide funding for Selkirk Outdoor Leadership and Education Fieldwork Experience programming, including the Winter Wildlands Alliance SnowSchool – the nation’s largest on snow winter ecology program. SOLE’s aim is to provide affordable and accessible outdoor education programs. Purchase tickets in Sandpoint at Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters, Eichardt’s Pub, Mountain Essentials, Pedro’s and at the Ski Shack in Hayden. “LOTR Trilogy” - Watch the “Lord of The Rings” trilogy – “The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers” and “The Return of The King” (Extended Version). Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the films start at 9 a.m. There will be a short intermission between films. Food available at the Kroc Cafe. Come for one or stay for all three. Seating is on a first-come basis. Donations accepted to support Operation Clothe a Child, to help children in need get new winter clothes. “Dead Poets Society” - Presented by Reel Leadership, a partnership between Vandal Entertainment and Leadership Programs. This is an opportunity to examine leadership through movies. The movie follows English teacher John Keating as he inspires his students to a love of poetry and to seize the day. This event is open to the public.
