Roma routs MLS Stars

Italian powerhouse AS Roma scored in the opening minutes, then added two second-half goals to finish off a 3-1 touncing of the best players in Major League Soccer Wednesday night. Midfielders Kevin Strootman (pictured, left) and Alessandro Florenzi each had a goal and an assist, and forward Junior Tallo also scored for Roma, the three-time Serie A champions. Defender Omar Gonzalez of the L.A. Galaxy scored the only goal for the MLS side in second-half stoppage time, heading home a free kick. The MLS was 7-2-1 against international opponents since the league adopted the current All-Star game format. Strootman scored in the fourth minute, before most of a raucous crowd had even found seats at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan. – AP
