Spokane scores two runs in top of frame, holds on

EUGENE – Ryan Cordell and Jamie Jarmon each plated runs with eighth-inning singles to back a strong outing from starter John Niggli and the Spokane Indians took a hard-fought 2-0 Northwest League victory over the Eugene Emeralds on Thursday night.

The Indians (6-8 second half) were limited to two hits through seven innings before breaking through against Emeralds reliever Erik Cabrera (0-7) for four base knocks in the eighth.

Eugene (7-7 second half) lead off the eighth and ninth innings with singles but failed to advance a runner past second in either frame.
