Indians wait until eighth, win

EUGENE – Ryan Cordell and Jamie Jarmon each plated runs with eighth-inning singles to back a strong outing from starter John Niggli and the Spokane Indians took a hard-fought 2-0 Northwest League victory over the Eugene Emeralds on Thursday night.
The Indians (6-8 second half) were limited to two hits through seven innings before breaking through against Emeralds reliever Erik Cabrera (0-7) for four base knocks in the eighth.
Eugene (7-7 second half) lead off the eighth and ninth innings with singles but failed to advance a runner past second in either frame.
Niggli (0-0) put the Indians in position to win with five scoreless innings of four-hit ball, striking out three Emeralds batters.
Abel De Los Santos (2-1) earned the win with two innings of one-hit ball and Ricardo Rodriguez got his first save of the season.
