Nelson propels Eastern to victory

Junior Lexie Nelson made three 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points as the Eastern Washington women’s basketball team overwhelmed Northwest College 90-48 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Reese Court in Cheney.

The Eagles (3-5) opened the game on an 11-0 run and never looked back.

Laura Hughes added 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks and freshman Tisha Phillips tallied 10 points and eight boards for the Eagles, who finished with 34 points in the paint and 24 points off 22 Northwest (8-4) turnovers.

• Kayla Johnson made four 3-pointers and scored 24 points and K.C. McConnell added 20 points and 11 rebounds as Whitworth (6-3) routed Warner Pacific (4-8) 77-51 in a nonconference game in Portland.

Arena football

Wide receivers David Lewis and Daniel Moore and defensive back Lowell Rose were added to the Spokane Shock roster. All three are newcomers to the Arena Football League.
