Banned Pittsburgh Marathon winner Mary Akor accepted a two-year ban from USADA after testing positive for a prohibited substance. The 37-year-old Akor, from Gardena, Calif., tested positive for Clenbuterol in an in-competition urine sample collected in December 2012 at the Gobernador Marathon in Mexico.
Recovering Barcelona said Lionel Messi’s recovery from a hamstring injury is on schedule, meaning he should be back on the field in January. Barcelona says a club doctor examined Messi in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and found his left hamstring is “progressing well.”
Suspended Olympic bronze medalist and three-time world time trial champion Michael Rogers of Australia tested positive for Clenbuterol. The International Cycling Union said that Rogers is provisionally suspended while his national federation investigates the case.
