Suspended Cavaliers center Andrew Bynum has been suspended indefinitely from the team for detrimental conduct and banned from all team activities. Bynum, who signed a two-year, $12 million contract with the Cavs this summer, did not travel with the team to Boston for Saturday’s game. The team only guaranteed Bynum $6 million on his deal, and they can clear more salary cap space if he is traded or released by Jan. 7.

Announced The Minnesota Vikings announced that running back Adrian Peterson will not play in the final game of the season against Detroit. Peterson was originally listed as doubtful with a sprained foot, which he sustained Dec. 8 at Baltimore. He finishes the season with 1,266 yards rushing, his second-lowest season total.

Completed The San Diego Padres and reliever Joaquin Benoit completed a $15.5 million, two-year contract that includes a vesting option for 2016. The sides agreed to the deal on Dec. 18, pending a physical. In his first season as the Detroit Tigers’ closer, Benoit had 24 saves in 26 chances this year.

Arrested Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig was arrested in Florida after Highway Patrol officers clocked him driving 110 mph in a 70 mph zone. Authorities say Puig was arrested and charged with reckless driving and taken to the Collier County jail for processing. Puig hit .319 with 19 home runs and 42 RBIs last season.

Activated Packers receiver Randall Cobb has been activated from injured reserve and has been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears with a knee injury. Cobb caught 29 passes for 378 yards and two touchdowns playing the first five games this season.

Injured The Minnesota Wild have placed left wing Zach Parise on injured reserve because of a bruised foot. The Wild recalled goalie Johan Gustafsson from Iowa of the American Hockey League to take Parise’s spot on the active roster, but Parise can be taken off injured reserve at any time. Parise has 15 goals and 12 assists in 37 games.

• The St. Louis Blues have placed star forward Alex Steen on the injured list with a concussion. Steen will be out indefinitely. He hasn’t played since he left a game against Edmonton on Dec. 21. The ninth-year Swede is the Blues’ leading scorer with 24 goals and 38 points in 35 games.
