Myers gets a chance
Free agent Brett Myers is getting a fresh “start” with the Cleveland Indians. The right-hander has agreed to a one-year contract with a club option for 2014 with Cleveland, which will give him a chance to win a starting job after he pitched in relief last season for Houston and the Chicago White Sox. Myers’ deal is contingent on the 32-year-old passing a physical. The Indians have several openings in their rotation. Myers, who has started for most of his career, went a combined 3-8 with a 3.31 ERA and 19 saves in 70 games – all in relief – last season. He made 33 starts in both 2010 and 2011 for the Astros, who traded him to the White Sox in July. – AP
