UI athletes honored

Eight area athletes at the University of Idaho were named to Western Athletic Conference All-Academic teams for the winter sports season with grade-point averages of 3.2 or better. By sport:

Men’s indoor track and field: Danny Brunner, freshman, University; Cody Helbling, junior, Lake City; Alexander Taylor, jr., Moscow.

Women’s indoor track and field: Megan Dempsey, senior, University and Eastern Washington; Helga Machleidt, jr., Moscow.

Swimming and diving: Rachel Millet, jr., Ferris; Rachel Peterson, jr., Coeur d’Alene High; Emily Renzini, sophomore, Mt. Spokane.

Golf

Shyann Morton, a two-time second-team All-Great Northern League selection from Cheney, has signed a letter of intent with the Community Colleges of Spokane, Sasquatch women’s golf coach Christie Dalsanders announced.
