Analysis: Silver production increased 12 percent during the second quarter to 2.5 million ounces compared to the same period last year. Company officials credited the increase to having the Lucky Friday Mine back in full operation after a closure for safety improvements. Hecla also produced more than 43,000 ounces of gold during the quarter, with about 65 percent of the production coming from its Casa Berardi gold mine in Quebec. The company acquired that mine last year.
