Photo: A tree that keeps on giving

Heavy lifting: Pulling on ropes on four sides of the Capitol Building’s third-floor balcony, volunteer state workers hoist the Association of Washington Business Holiday Kids’ Tree onto its stand in the middle of the Rotunda on Monday afternoon after decorating the top half of the 34-foot noble fir. A tree-lighting ceremony is scheduled for Friday evening. The tree was donated by Winkleman’s Tree Farm. Toys and money collected by association members will be donated to 15 rural fire departments later this month. (Jim Camden)
