Coach Brady Hoke fired at Michigan

Michigan has fired football coach Brady Hoke after four seasons. Interim athletic director Jim Hackett made the announcement Tuesday. The Wolverines have struggled to regain their status among the top programs in the Big Ten, much less college football. Hoke was an assistant at Michigan before turning around San Diego State and Ball State as a head coach. After he replaced Rich Rodriguez, the Wolverines won the Sugar Bowl and finished the 2011 season 11-2. Hoke’s recruits were well regarded, but the results on the field didn’t measure up. Michigan went 8-5 in 2012 and 7-6 in 2013. This season, they were 5-7. – Associated Press
