Hired New York Giants quarterbacks coach Danny Langsdorf is headed to Nebraska to become new coach Mike Riley’s offensive coordinator. Langsdorf was Riley’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Oregon State from 2005-13.

Dismissed Texas A&M dismissed student assistant coach Michael Richardson a day after videos showed him hitting West Virginia players out of bounds during the Liberty Bowl. Coach Kevin Sumlin apologized to coach Dana Holgorsen, the two players who were hit and West Virginia overall. He said: “I am extremely disappointed and embarrassed, as his behavior reflected poorly on our program.”

Assigned The Anaheim Ducks assigned Dany Heatley to their AHL affiliate in Norfolk after the veteran NHL goal-scorer cleared waivers. Heatley hasn’t clicked with the NHL-leading Ducks, who signed him to a one-year, $1 million deal in the offseason.

Announced Kansas City Royals outfielder Alex Gordon had surgery on his right wrist, and the four-time Gold Glove winner should be ready for the season opener against the White Sox on April 6. Gordon dealt with pain in the same wrist midway through last season but did not miss significant playing time. He aggravated the injury during his winter training sessions.

Declared Nebraska defensive end Randy Gregory is declaring for the NFL draft. Gregory was a first-team All-Big Ten pick as a junior after leading the Cornhuskers with seven sacks. He was fourth on the team with 54 tackles, including 10 for losses. He missed or was limited in four games because of injury. Gregory is projected to be a first-round draft pick.

Signed Former Wimbledon champion Andy Murray signed a four-year deal with American sportswear manufacturer Under Armour. Terms were not announced, but British news reports said the deal was worth $25 million. Murray won Wimbledon in 2013 and the U.S. Open in 2012. He is currently ranked No. 6 in the world.

Withdrew U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic withdrew from next week’s Brisbane International tennis tournament with a right shoulder injury. There was no indication whether the injury would affect the Croatian’s chances of playing at the Australian Open beginning Jan. 19 in Melbourne. Cilic, who has had the injury for the past six months, defeated Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori to win his first Grand Slam title.
