Santos captures tourney title

Gonzaga University captured the team title and sophomore Raychelle Santos won her third collegiate title at the Jim West Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas on Tuesday.

Santos shot a final-round 4-under-par 67 – one shot off the school record – and finished with a 54-hole score of 212 at the 6,128-yard, par-71 Bandit Golf Club. Her 67 matches her career best set last season and ties the second best round in school history held by two others. Her 54-hole score of 212 is second best in school history.

Freshman Ciera Min, the 36-hole leader, shot an even-par 71 on the final day and tied for second at 214 with Iman Nordin of host Texas State University and Jenna Hague of Ball State University. Min’s 214 ties for the third best 54-hole score in school history. Junior Alice Kim also finished in the top 10 in a tie for ninth at 225.

• The Gonzaga University men’s golf team carded a seven-over par 295 to finish ninth at the Rice Intercollegiate at Westwood Golf Club in Houston. The Bulldogs finished the two day, 54-hole tournament with a 905.

Erik Krzyzanowski and Peter Gullickson led Gonzaga, each posting a one-over par 73. Krzyzanowski finished 22nd with an eight-over par 224. Gullickson tied for 27 with a 10-over par 226.
