CC Spokane men score 5 late points for win

Kwinn Hanson scored 30 points, Chase Haack added 26 and TJ Bracey hit two free throws with less than 1 second left Wednesday to give CC Spokane (14-7, 4-3 NWAACC) a 79-77 win over Big Bend (15-6, 4-3) at Spokane Falls CC.

Haack’s 3-pointer with 9 seconds left tied the game at 77. Bracey stole the ball from Victor Aguero with 2 seconds left and was fouled.

Hanson shot 14 of 17 from the floor.

Women’s basketball

Riley Holsinger had a game-high 31 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists and four blocked shots to lead CC Spokane (11-9, 3-4 NWAACC) to a 69-57 win over Big Bend (13-8, 3-4) at SFCC. Holsinger shot 11 of 22 from the floor and 8 of 10 from the free-throw line.

College baseball

Defending West Coast Conference regular-season champion Gonzaga was selected to finish fifth in a preseason poll of league coaches. Bulldogs junior outfielder Cory LeBrun and sophomore infielder Caleb Wood made the All-WCC preseason team.

Softball

Whitworth was tabbed for second place in the Northwest Conference preseason coaches’ poll. The Pirates received one first-place vote and 41 points. Linfield earned seven first-place votes and 56 points.

Women’s golf

Eastern Washington received 60 points and was picked for sixth place in the Big Sky Conference preseason coaches’ poll. Portland State earned 10 first-place votes and 100 points.
