Extended Golfer Tom Watson will get one more chance at St. Andrews in the British Open. The R&A extended the exemption of Watson, allowing him to play one more time in 2015 when golf’s oldest championship returns to the Old Course at St. Andrews. Watson holds The Open record for winning on five links courses.
Joined Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders has always said he wants the organization to feel like a family. Next season the coaching staff certainly will. Saunders’ son, Ryan, officially joined the staff as an assistant on Tuesday. Ryan Saunders had spent the previous five seasons working in Washington, where he specialized in advance scouting and analytics.
Dropped Formula One may say goodbye to one of its most historic tracks at Monza, according to boss Bernie Ecclestone. Monza’s current deal was agreed to in 2010 and Ecclestone said he believes it is unlikely to be renewed when it runs out at the end of 2016. Every Italian Grand Prix since 1950 has been held at Monza except the 1980 race, which was held at Imola.
Leaving Broadcaster Clark Kellogg is leaving the Indianapolis Pacers after being with the team 32 years as a player, broadcaster and most recently as vice president for player relations. Kellogg played five seasons before retiring with a knee injury. He then worked as a radio and TV analyst for the Pacers until being named vice president for player relations in 2010.
Scheduled A final pretrial hearing is scheduled for two Detroit men charged in the robbery and fatal shooting of Eastern Michigan University football player Demarius Reed. The 20-year-old wide receiver from Chicago was killed Oct. 18 at his off-campus apartment building in Ypsilanti. Police say Reed’s wallet and cellphone were taken. Kristopher Pratt and Ed Thomas appeared in Washtenaw County Trial Court for a final hearing before they stand trial this month.
