6,000 without power after thunderstorms

From Staff Reports

Thunderstorms knocked out electrical power to about 6,000 homes in the Spokane area Monday night.

The storms swept into Spokane following a sunny day, packing lightning and drenching rains that sent Avista utility crews to work restoring power.

Most of the outages were concentrated in Spokane, although there were people left without electricity in Spokane Valley, Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene.

The weather forecast for today is humid and warm with a chance of thunderstorms again in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
