The suspicious no-show
Who doesn’t show after entering is as much a part of the Hoopfest story as who does. Especially in the case of Isaac Burton, who in 1999 was sentenced to jail and probation for his role in a point-shaving conspiracy while at Arizona State.
The next year, he was supposed to be a key man on a Los Angeles team that was part of Hoopfest’s big-city ringer outreach of that era. But he didn’t make his plane. Making him the only known player to shave an entire tournament.
