Masked men try to rob Hotel Lusso

From Staff Report

Police are looking for two men who attempted to rob the Hotel Lusso shortly after 1 a.m. Friday in downtown Spokane.

The two men walked into the hotel at 808 W. Sprague Ave. wearing masks. One of them demanded money from the clerk and said he had a gun. The clerk activated the alarm, causing the other man to leave. The first man again demanded money, but the clerk refused and asked to see his gun, a Spokane Police Department news release said.

The would-be robber left the hotel without any money. A security officer followed him but lost sight of him. Spokane police responded but could not find the men.

A Hotel Lusso news release said one man was white and the other was black. They headed north on Post Street after the robbery attempt and were seen turning east on Riverside Avenue. About 10 to 15 minutes prior to the robbery attempt, they had been seen sitting near Fire Artisan Pizza, just west of the hotel.
