Katrina Dunbar has been hired as a project designer at Design Source Inc. She is a LEED Green Associate. Dunbar was previously a designer at CSO Architects, Indianapolis.

Health care

Eastern State Hospital has hired Jakob Obie Camp and Patrick Phan as psychiatrists. Camp previously worked at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. He graduated from the University of Mississippi and completed his psychiatric residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Phan previously practiced psychiatry at Eastern State Hospital, Kitsap Mental Health Services in Bremerton, had a private practice in Seattle and most recently worked at Fort Defiance Indian Hospital, Fort Defiance, Arizona. Phan received his medical degree from the University of Saigon.

Bryan Smith has joined Gritman Medical Center as a urologist. Smith earned his doctor of medicine degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and completed his residency in urology at Loma Linda. He previously worked at Urology Associates of Northern California, Providence Medical Group and The Vancouver Clinic.

Hospitality

Mike O’Brien has been hired as general manager of the Best Western Plus University Inn in Moscow. Previously, O’Brien was the general manager of the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn.

Insurance

Michelle DeMoss has joined PayneWest Insurance as a commercial insurance account specialist. DeMoss has been in the insurance industry since 2004 and has served as a customer service representative, endorsement processor, senior insurance representative and underwriter.

Law

Jeffrey R. Ropp has been named a principal at Winston & Cashatt. Ropp graduated from the Gonzaga University School of Law in 1986 and the University of Florida, Master of Laws and Taxation Program, in 1988. He joined the firm in 2013 and has practiced for more than 25 years in elder law, estate planning, probate, and trust administration.

Attorneys Richard Allen, Eric Vandenburg and Bradley Tubbs have joined Lee & Hayes. Allen has joined the patent practice and will focus on domestic and foreign patent prosecution. Vandenburg is a recent graduate of the University Of Idaho College Of Law and will also join the patent practice. Tubbs is a recent graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law and has joined the corporate and litigation practice group.

Ted Schmidt, with ActionCOACH, has relocated to Tapio Office Center Orange Flag Building, Suite 215, 104 S. Freya St. In addition, Stella Fox has joined the company. Fox was previously with the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber. Diane Gardner, an accountant and owner of Adept Business Services, has received a Quilly Award for a book she co-authored, “Stand Apart.” Gardner received the award after the book made the Amazon Top 10 best-seller lists in four categories.

Ana Matthews, of Avista, has joined the Spokane Housing Ventures board of directors. Matthews joins the other 2014 officers and board members as follows: president, Ryan Jensen of Witherspoon Kelley; vice president, Kathy Thamm of Community-Minded Enterprises; treasurer, Gary Fievez of Matrix Group 360 LLC; Keith Kelley of Kelley Developments; Julie Van Wormer of ALSC Architects; Greg Tracy of Mountain West Bank; emeritus director, Rev. Michael Hatcher of Spokane Mental Health. Fred Peck, executive director of the organization, serves as the board secretary in a staff capacity.

SKILS’KIN has earned a three-year accreditation for the organization’s Employment Services Programs from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International. The accreditation verifies that the programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable and accountable.
