Conner Ramm, Tanner Jacobs team up for two scores in fourth to lead East Valley

Conner Ramm threw two touchdown passes to Tanner Jacobs in the fourth quarter and East Valley rallied to beat Deer Park 27-20 in a nonleague football season-opener Friday night at East Valley.

The Knights trailed 20-14 heading into the fourth, but Ramm’s 15-yard strike to Jacobs gave them a 21-20 lead. The pair hooked up again later in the fourth to cap the scoring.

Nic Clough ran for two scores for Deer Park.

Skyview 26, Post Falls 20: The Hawks of Nampa, Idaho, scored two short rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter and came from behind to upend the visiting Trojans (1-1). Post Falls took a 17-6 lead on Nathan Gregory’s 23-yard field goal late in the third quarter, but Skyview outscored the Trojans 20-3 the rest of the way. Post Falls’ Austin Jensen ran for 86 yards and both of the Trojans’ touchdowns.

Priest River 36, Chewelah 33: Tommy Anselmo ran for two scores and caught another as the Spartans (1-0) edged the host Cougars (0-1) in a shootout. Priest River outscored Chewelah 28-14 in the second half to erase a 19-8 deficit. Stephen Beamer had 21 carries, 119 yards and two scores for Chewelah.

Eastmont 31, Rogers 20: Austin Henley rushed for a pair of scores and the Wildcats (1-0) pulled away late to beat the Pirates (0-1) at Albi Stadium. Pirates’ quarterback Cole Shafer did all he could to keep Rogers in the game, passing for 243 yards. His 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter gave Rogers an early 8-6 lead. He threw two second-half touchdown strikes to Khalil Winfrey and Raymond Volk.

Colville 12, Cheney 10: Colton Vining ran for 100 yards and a score and the Indians (1-0) edged the visiting Blackhawks (0-1) in a game dominated by defense. Colville racked up 202 yards on the ground. The Indians’ Jack Hines helped limit Cheney’s scoring chances with two interceptions.

Freeman 49, St. Maries 7: Markus Geldbach carried the Scotties (1-0) past the visiting Lumberjacks (0-1). Geldbach ran for 236 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns, all three of which came in the second quarter. He also opened the scoring in the second half with a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown. Logan Feasline connected with Hayden Humphrey on a 25-yard touchdown in the second quarter for St. Maries’ lone score.

Timberlake 51, Riverside 14: Ryan Starr threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns – two coming in the second half – and the Tigers (2-0) routed the the Rams (0-1) at Spirit Lake. Timberlake’s Dan Buck added 149 yards and two scores, including a 99-yarder in the second quarter.

Medical Lake 41, Orofino 30: Jackson Tappero ran for 254 yards on 30 carries and scored four touchdowns as the Cardinals (1-0) topped the visiting Maniacs.

Wilbur-Creston 47, Springdale 12: Kyle Bodeau ran for four touchdowns – two in the second quarter and two more in the third – and the Wildcats (1-0) routed the host Chargers (0-1). Trystan Rosman added two touchdown passes to Colton Magers for Wilbur-Creston.

Selkirk 42, Inchelium 20: Dominic Cain threw for five touchdowns and ran for another as the Rangers (1-0) defeated the host Hornets (0-1). Cain threw to David Cronoble and Stephen Avey for two touchdowns apiece and Jacob Couch for the fifth.

Entiat 36, Republic 34: Luis Lugo scored two late touchdowns as Entiat (1-0) pulled off a second-half rally to stun host Republic (0-1). Alex and Angelo Rivera helped Republic build a 26-8 halftime lead. Angelo Rivera hauled in a 19-yard pass from Aaron Fritz to open the scoring, and the brothers both added rushing scores later in the half.

Trang Tran led the comeback for the visitors, as he rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another. Fritz and Angelo Rivera hooked up again to cover 71 yards in the fourth quarter, but Lugo took over from there. Republic drove to the 2-yard line on the final drive, but Entiat came up with a goal-line stand in the closing seconds to preserve the win.

Colton 36, Salmon River 22: Grant Kinzer racked up 156 rushing yards and three scores and also hauled in a receiving touchdown in the Wildcats’ (1-0) win over the visiting Savages (0-1). Brady Chadwick scored on a 2-yard plunge in the fourth for Colton’s other touchdown.

Odessa-Harrington 60, St. John-Endicott 6: Sam Schafer ran for 225 yards and four touchdowns and the Titans (1-0) routed the visiting Eagles (0-1). Carsen Weber added a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown and Steven Braun scored on two short runs in the first quarter. Kindred Hollingshead threw a touchdown pass to Dakota Gering in the first quarter for St. John-Endicott’s lone score.

Garfield-Palouse 48, Wallace 24: After falling behind early, the Vikings (1-0) stormed back to defeat the visiting Miners (0-1). The Vikings accrued 522 total yards – 302 rushing and 220 passing. Garfield-Palouse’s Cole Sanderson led all rushers with 133 yards and three rushing touchdowns, while Tyler Thurman had 151 yards receiving and two touchdown receptions.

Cusick 58, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 6: Tyson Shanholtzer and Eli Peterson combined for six touchdowns as the Panthers (1-0) began the season with a lopsided win the visiting Tigercats (0-1). Shanholtzer found the end zone three times in the first quarter as the Panthers built a 30-0 lead. He scored on runs of 12 and 35 yards and added a 27-yard fumble return for another score. Shanholtzer finished with 141 yards on seven carries. Peterson scored in all three phases, as he rushed in from 22 yards, added another scoop-and-score from 20, and took a kickoff 80 yards to open the second half. Spirit White and Alec Bluff also ran for scores for the Tigercats.

Wellpinit 72, Northport 20: Jason Holt scored four first-quarter touchdowns and the Redskins (1-0) overwhelmed the visiting Mustangs (0-1). Holt ran for scores of 33, 12 and 41 yards and also returned a touchdown 70 yards for a score. Wellpinit led 34-6 after the first quarter and 56-12 at the half. Holt finished with 179 yards on nine carries in limited action.

Pateros 44, Curlew 8: Carolos Ceniceros and Mikey Piechalski led the Billygoats (1-0) to a victory over the visiting Cougars (0-1). Ceniceros caught 7 passes for 96 yards, finding the end zone three times for Pateros. Piechalski threw for 277 yards and five touchdowns. Kyle Engebretson punched in the only touchdown for Curlew on a 1-yard run.

Liberty Christian 52, Almira/Coulee-Hartline 20: John Lesser ran for five scores, including three of 60 yards or more, and the Patriots (1-0) dumped the visiting Warriors (0-1). ACH’s Dallas Isaak ran for all three of the Warriors’ scores.

Northeast 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 28, Davenport 18: The Broncos (1-0) began their quest for a third straight title with a win over the host Gorillas (0-1).

Hugh Hennings scored Lind-Ritzville/Sprague’s first three touchdowns – all 1-yard plunges. He finished with 78 yards on 14 carries.

Davenport scored two touchdowns in the fourth, but ran out of time.

Reardan 33, Kettle Falls 6: Justin Anderson and Dustyn Rettkowski ran for two touchdowns each and the Indians (1-0) dumped the host Bulldogs (0-1).

Anderson, Rett and Dan Peone combined for 205 rushing yards for Reardan.

White Star League

Clark Fork 34, Kootenai 6: Brandon Bowen scored three first-half touchdowns and the Wampus Cats (2-0, 1-0) routed the visiting Warriors (0-1, 0-1).

Bowen opened the scoring with a 60-yard interception return and later scored on runs of 19 and 37 yards.

Clark Fork’s Wyatt Stevens ran for two second-half scores to put the game away.
