MLB notes: Former MLB pitcher Jamie Moyer stuck on Disneyland ride

Ap

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Jamie Moyer got stuck on a ride at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, California and lived to tweet about it.

Moyer was briefly stuck on the California Screamin’ attraction Friday and tweeted a photo of himself waiting on the roller coaster. The caption says, “Not sure what is more difficult, pitching in a Major League game or this.”

Disneyland spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the ride stopped automatically due to a minor mechanical issue – a standard safety procedure.

Over a 25-year career, the 52-year-old Moyer pitched for eight teams, including the Seattle Mariners and the Philadelphia Philllies. He was inducted into the Mariners’ Hall of Fame this year.

MLB fines Cosart

Marlins pitcher Jarred Cosart was fined by MLB for placing illegal bets, but the sport said it found no evidence he bet on baseball.

“The investigation (by MLB) did not reveal any evidence to suggest that Cosart, who fully cooperated with the investigation, bet on baseball,” the commissioner’s office said in a statement.

Cosart was fined for violating a rule that “prohibits players from placing bets with illegal bookmakers or agents for illegal book makers.”

Giants lock up Bochy, Sabean

The San Francisco Giants have extended the contracts of manager Bruce Bochy and baseball operations leader Brian Sabean through the 2019 season.

The Giants also announced that Sabean has been promoted to executive vice president of baseball operations.
