Declared Arizona Wildcats forward Brandon Ashley will skip his senior season and enter his name in the NBA draft. Ashley averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds while helping lead the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament’s Elite Eight for the second straight season. He becomes the second player to leave early at Arizona this year, joining sophomore forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who announced he was leaving on Tuesday.

• A knee injury late in the season did not derail UNLV guard Rashad Vaughn’s dream of playing in the NBA. Despite missing nine games with a left knee injury during his freshman season, Vaughn announced that he’s leaving the Runnin’ Rebels and will declare for the NBA draft. He led UNLV with a 17.6 scoring average and named the Mountain West Conference’s freshman of the year.

• Notre Dame junior Jewell Loyd declared herself eligible for the WNBA draft, a night after the Irish lost in the women’s national championship game to the UConn Huskies. Loyd could be the top pick in the April 16 draft. She has up until five days before the draft to return to Notre Dame if she changes her mind.

Accused The Phoenix Suns’ Marcus and Markieff Morris are being investigated on allegations that they beat a former mentor. Phoenix police say they are seeking aggravated assault charges against the Morris twins and three others in the alleged January attack. In a statement, the Phoenix Suns said they are aware of an investigation but would have no further comment.

Deliberated The jury ended deliberations for a second day in the murder trial of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. So far, jurors have spent 9 hours deliberating the case over two days.

Hired Eastern Kentucky hired former Minnesota and Louisville assistant Dan McHale as the Colonels’ 20th head basketball coach. McHale replaces Jeff Neubauer, who left after 10 seasons to become head coach at Fordham. The Colonels finished 21-12 last season.

Agreed Utah men’s basketball coach Larry Krystkowiak received a contract extension through the 2022-23 season. The extension calls for the fourth-year coach to make $2.4 million per year.

Tested The teenage son of former Formula One champion Michael Schumacher completed his first public test drive. The 16-year-old Mick Schumacher made his debut for the Van Amersfoort Formula 4 team in Oschersleben, Germany.
