EWU improves to 2-0

Tasha Luu scored in the second overtime to lift Eastern Washington to a 2-1 victory over New Mexico State on Sunday in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

It is the first time the Eagles have opened a season with two victories. Both have come on the road.

Luu scored in the 107th minute off a pass from Savannah Hoekstra.

Emily Bringgold also scored for EWU, getting an unassisted goal in the 31st minute.

Mallory Taylor made seven saves against the Aggies (1-1), who got their goal in the 53rd minute.

• Due to poor air quality, the Idaho at Washington State match scheduled for Sunday was postponed until tonight at 7.

Auto racing

Blake Williams of Spokane took second place in the NAPA Auto Parts 150 in Dracona, Colorado on Saturday. He finished 1.7 seconds behind Ryan Partridge in the NASCAR K&N Series race. Nicole Behar, of Otis Orchards, placed ninth.

Williams was seventh at Monroe, Washington, a week ago and fifth in his first start on July 11 at Stateline Speedway.
