WSU needs games in Spokane

Bill Moos should bring his Cougar basketball team back to Spokane.

The attendance at Cougar home games in Pullman is embarrassing during winter break. As a non-Cougar Pac-12 basketball fan, I was excited to see that WSU conference play started at home with USC, UCLA and UW.

In previous years, Moos moved winter break conference games to Spokane, and I’ve enjoyed attending them. The UW and UCLA games would be close to sellouts if played in Spokane. But alas, Moos has chosen to keep the games in Pullman, where he’ll be lucky to draw 3,000.

Moos, the Spokane Arena is good enough for NCAA rournament games but not good enough for one or two WSU games? Moos, get over your stubborn Cougar pride. Schedule some home games in Spokane.

Young writers created great scenes

My congratulations to the winners of The S-R Outdoor Writing Contest. While reading each story, I could picture being apart of each scene. Each writer did an excellent job of telling a great, personal story. Looks like some future novelists are getting an early start. Thanks, S-R, for setting up this contest, and to Rich Landers and Dan Hansen for judging.
