Colfax will play for district title
Sidney Sheer had 13 points and eight rebounds, both team highs, and Amara Huber added 12 points as defending state-champion Colfax earned a spot in the District 7 2B title game with a 63-43 win over St. George’s on Saturday in Reardan.
The Bulldogs (19-3) used a 22-1 second-quarter run to take a 15-point lead into halftime. Colfax shot 45 percent from the field while holding the Dragons to 33 percent shooting.
St. George’s Ceci Bergquist poured in a game-high 18 points. She made all seven of her free throws. Hailey Higashi added 13 for the Dragons (13-9).
Colfax will play Northwest Christian in Thursday’s championship match to determine the top two seeds to the regional tournament. St. George’s will play Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Tuesday in a loser-out game.
Northwest Christian 78, Davenport 42: Rachel Bozlee tied a school record with nine 3-pointers and finished with 33 points in the Crusaders’ (21-1) rout of the Gorillas (13-9) at the District 7 2B tournament. She attempted 11 3s in all. NWC’s Mackenzie Gray added 14 points and nine rebounds, Courtney Gray chipped in 13 points and Treasure Farmer dished out 11 assists. Sydney Abbott and Meika Heath scored a combined 24 points for Davenport, which will play Reardan in a loser-out game on Tuesday.
Reardan 41, Wilbur-Creston 33: Maddie Johnson made eight free throws and finished with 21 points as the Indians (15-7) avoided elimination with a win over the Wildcats (8-15) at the District 7 2B tournament. Lauren Starzman tallied a team-high 13 points for Wilbur-Creston, which saw its season come to a close.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 72, Liberty 67 (OT): Mallory Kessler led five players in double figures with 22 points and added nine rebounds as the Broncos (15-7) snuck past the Lancers (9-13) at the District 7 2B tournament. Liberty’s Christine Denny hit a 3 at the buzzer to force overtime. Denny finished with a game-high 27 points, but the Lancers were eliminated.
Northeast 1B
Curlew 50, Inchelium 40: Kayleona Fanning scored 13 points, Haleigh Gibson had 12 and Lindsay Gibson added 10 as the Cougars (12-8) used a 19-10 fourth-quarter run to get past the host Hornets (7-10). The win was Curlew’s sixth straight. Inchelium’s Maraia Zacherle tallied a team-high 15 points.
Odessa-Harrington 57, Valley Christian 35: Katie DeWulf led a balanced offensive attack with 12 points and the Titans (9-11) used a 19-9 first-quarter run to establish control and beat the host Panthers (3-16). Valley Christian’s Phoebe Trigsted scored 15 points and Kaleen Pope pulled down nine rebounds.
Republic 68, Cusick 29: Shania Graham led three players in double figures with 18 points and the Tigers (20-0) dominated from the opening tip in an easy win over the host Panthers (7-10). Republic’s Lily Beckwith added 13 points and Sierra McQuay chipped in 10. The Tigers used a 17-3 third-quarter run to put the game away. Cusick’s Renee Wynne tallied a team-best nine points.
Selkirk 40, Northport 27: Anna Kotzian had 12 points and four steals as the Rangers (8-12) built a 22-3 first-half lead en route to a win over the Mustangs (3-16) in Ione. Selkirk’s Hannah and Gabi Rick pulled down 10 rebounds apiece. The Rangers held a 48-17 advantage on the boards. Northport’s Ashtyn Baribault tallied a game-high 15 points.
Wellpinit 66, Columbia 21: Jamie Pascal scored 11 points and the Redskins (14-6) overwhelmed the Lions (0-18) in Hunters. Wellpinit outscored Columbia 21-5 in the second quarter and led by 26 at the break. For Columbia, Shaylee Rice scored 10 points and Mekayla Reynolds grabbed 15 rebounds.
