Gymnastics: Jenna Schlosser, Mead claim regional titles; Mt. Spokane edged in 3A

Mead’s Jenna Schlosser won the all-around and the Panthers claimed the team title Saturday at the 4A regional meet at Mt. Rainier High School.

Schlosser claimed individual wins in the bars and floor exercise. Central Valley’s McKinzie Carter took third place in all-around.

Aside from Mead, which will be sending its entire team to the state meet, local individual qualifiers include Ferris’ Jessica Harpel, University’s Demri Oglesbee and Central Valley’s Chloe Robbins.

The state meet for all classifications will be held Friday and Saturday at the Tacoma Dome.

Kamiakin narrowly edged Mt. Spokane for the team title at the Mt. Spokane/Mead Gymnastics Center.

The Braves scored 170.825 points and Mt. Spokane was second with 169.7. Southridge was third, followed by Shadle Park, Rogers, North Central and Hanford.

Southridge’s Kiya Bjorge won the bars, beam and vault events and was first in all-around.

Mt. Spokane’s Jade Anderson claimed a narrow victory in the floor and was second in all-around. She qualified for the state meet in all four events.

Other local state-qualifiers include Mt. Spokane’s Reigan Campmann, Marisol Delcid, Devyn Adams, Brooke Fraser, Laura White and Shadle Park’s Alexiz Samuelson.
