Hornets, Grizzlies regain Big Sky lead

Nick Hornsby had 17 points and a career-high 11 rebounds, and Mikh McKinney scored 16 to help Sacramento State beat North Dakota 74-66 in Sacramento, California, and move into a tie with Montana atop the Big Sky Conference standings.

Zach Mills added 13 points and Dylan Garrity scored 12 on 4-of-4 shooting – including three from behind the arc – for Sacramento State, which improved to 13-1 at home and tied the school’s record for home wins in a season.

Back-to-back 3’s by McKinney sparked a 17-8 run which made it 56-46 with 7:57 to play and the Hornets, who committed just seven turnovers, led by at least six the rest of the way.

Quinton Hooker led North Dakota with 20 points. Jaron Nash added 17 points.

Sacramento State made 8 of 11 (season-high 73 percent) from 3-point range, while UND hit 6 of 22 from deep.

Montana 74, Weber State 63: Martin Breunig scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Grizzlies muscled their way past the Wildcats in Missoula.

Brandon Gfeller and Riley Bradshaw both knocked down 3-pointers to help give Montana a 10-point lead in the final minute of the first half, but Ryan Richardson hit a 3-pointer to cut the Weber State deficit to seven, 36-29 at the break.

Jordan Gregory and Michael Weisner scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Montana.

Chris Golden scored 18 points to lead Weber State. Richardson finished with 15 points and Richaud Gittens added another 12, while Joel Bolomboy grabbed 10 rebounds.

Montana State 67, Idaho State 53: Michael Dison scored 29 points to lead the Bobcats to a win over the Bengals in Bozeman.

Dison finished with 9-of-17 shooting from the field, including 4 of 9 from 3-point.

Chris Hansen led Idaho State with 21 points.

Portland State 91, Northern Colorado 75: Gary Winston led five players in double figures with 19 points and the host Vikings ran away from the Bears.

Dominique Lee led Northern Colorado with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
