Girls basketball: Pullman defeats Clarkston

Emily Drake had 29 points, seven rebounds and three steals and Pullman fended off Clarkston’s late rally to beat the Bantams 60-57 in a Great Northern League game Friday night in Pullman.

The Bantams (5-5, 3-1), down by 15 after three quarters, outscored the Greyhounds (5-5, 1-1) 24-12 in the fourth to make things interesting, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Riley Denton led three Clarkston players in double figures with 13 points.

Pullman’s Jaclyn Meyers added 11 points and seven rebounds and Charlie Dinke chipped in 10 points before fouling out.

West Valley 44, Cheney 32: Erin Higbie led three players in double figures with 12 points and added nine rebounds in the Eagles’ win over the visiting Blackhawks (4-7, 0-4). Hallie Nordhagen added 11 points and Natalie Noble chipped in 10 for West Valley (3-7, 1-1). Cheney freshman Hailee Huff scored 10 points.

Intermountain

Timberlake 64, Bonners Ferry 38: Allison Kirby scored 26 points and Payten Rhodes added 15 as the Tigers (11-2, 2-0) routed the host Badgers (5-5, 0-2).

Jaiden Everhart led Bonners Ferry with seven points and five blocks.

Priest River 42, Kellogg 23: Avery Summers had 15 points and 15 rebounds and Katlyn Summers added 10 points and 10 boards as the Spartans (11-2, 2-0) dominated in the first half and coasted past the visiting Wildcats (4-4, 0-2).

Northeast A

Colville 47, Freeman 39: Megan Lee scored 20 points and Kacie Pierce added 11 as the Indians (5-6, 4-1) grabbed control after halftime and beat the visiting Scotties (1-9, 1-4). Colville trailed by three at the half, but outscored Freeman 22-13 in the second half. Freeman’s Cassidy Crosswhile tossed in a team-high 12 points.

Medical Lake 35, Newport 34: Bradyn Wegner made four free throws during an 8-0 fourth-quarter run and the Cardinals (3-6, 3-2) edged the host Grizzlies (2-9, 1-4). Newport’s Lauren Vaughn hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut the final margin to 1. Newport’s Hadley Stratton had 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Chewelah 46, Riverside 35: Aspen Katzer scored 10 of her game-high 12 points in the fourth quarter and the Cougars (5-6, 4-1) topped the host Rams (3-7, 2-3). Maggie Cobb added 10 points for Chewelah. Allie Shannon led Riverside with 11 points.

Lakeside 43, Deer Park 20: Shaye Swannack scored 17 points and Jocelyn Cook-Cox added 10 as the Eagles (10-1, 5-0) held the Stags (0-11, 0-5) scoreless in the first quarter in a win in Deer Park. The Stags’ Jael and Damaris Guske combined for 13 points.

Northeast 2B

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 47, Davenport 44: Jenna Bennett’s free throw late in the fourth stretched the Broncos’ lead to three and LRS (8-2, 5-2) held on to defeat the host Gorillas (5-6, 4-4). Tommi Swannack led the Broncos with 14 points and eight rebounds, Bennett added 11 points and Mallory Kessler chipped in 10. Davenport’s Sydney Abbott tallied a game-high 17 points and Grace Lilje added 10 points and five steals.

Northwest Christian 56, St. George’s 39: Mackenzie Gray scored 24 points and Courtney Gray added 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Crusaders (12-1, 7-1) topped the visiting Dragons (6-7, 2-5). Hailey Higashi led St. George’s with 20 points.

Wilbur-Creston 49, Liberty 46 (OT): Emily Starzman scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter and overtime and the Wildcats (5-7, 2-5) slid past the Lancers (6-6, 2-5) in Wilbur. Liberty’s Madelynne Flaig tallied a game-high 24 points, but the Lancers managed just one point in overtime.

Colfax 47, Springdale 39: Carmen Gfeller scored eight of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter and the Bulldogs (10-3, 7-0) edged the upset-minded Chargers (5-7, 1-7) in Springdale. Jackie Carr led Springdale with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Reardan 62, Tekoa-Rosalia 40: Maddie Johnson scored 22 points and Kamille Langford and Michelle Tinsley each added 17 as the Indians (10-2, 6-1) cruised past the visiting Timberwolves (7-4, 3-4). Tekoa-Rosalia’s Kimberly Groom and Olivia Pakootas scored a combined 26 points.

Southeast 1B

Colton 70, Touchet 56: Junior Zoe Moser made 18 of 19 free throws and finished with a game-high 36 points as the Wildcats (11-0, 5-0) extended their winning streak to 55 games with a win over the host Indians. Touchet’s Cierra Jo McKeown tallied a team-high 22 points.

Oakesdale 48, St. John-Endicott 37: Jacey Johnson made 5 of 5 3-pointers and scored 19 points as the Nighthawks (7-3, 4-1) surged in the final quarter and beat the Eagles (6-5, 3-2) in St. John. Oakesdale eighth-grader Logan Reed scored 10 of her 13 points during the Nighthawks’ 22-8 fourth-quarter run.

Nonleague

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 52, Curlew 20: The Warriors (8-2) opened the game on a 16-3 run and eased past the host Cougars (6-6). ACH’s Reinee Rockett tallied a game-high 16 points and Brenna Oliver added 11.

Odessa-Harrington 77, Northport 41: Shelbey Watkins led three players in double figures with 16 points and Titans (3-8) routed the host Mustangs (1-8). Paige Alloway added 13 points and Lanessa Simon chipped in 11 for Odessa-Harrington, which forced 20 first-half turnovers and led 45-18 at halftime. Northport’s Ashtyn Baribault tallied a game-high 23 points.

Selkirk 51, Columbia 10: Hannah Rick scored 12 points and the Rangers (3-6) held the Lions (0-9) scoreless in the first quarter in a win in Hunters.

Wellpinit 64, Cusick 29: Kyra Antone scored 26 points and the Redskins (6-3) grabbed 29 offensive rebounds in a rout of the host Panthers (2-6). Cusick’s Renee Wynne scored a team-high eight points.

Inchelium 50, Valley Christian 44: Maraia Zacherle scored 19 points and Olivia Williams added 12 as the Hornets (5-2) pulled away in the final quarter and beat the host Panthers (2-8). The teams combined for 48 turnovers.
