Area women: Stacey Barr leads Idaho over Portland State
Stacey Barr scored 15 of her game-high 22 points in the second half and Idaho overwhelmed Portland State 77-49 in a Big Sky Conference game Saturday at the Cowan Spectrum in Moscow, Idaho.
Barr made 10 of 14 shots from the field and passed former teammate Alyssa Charlston for fifth place on the Vandals’ all-time scoring list.
Idaho (8-8, 2-3) scored 40 points in the paint, won the rebounding battle 44-25, and came away with 14 second-chance points.
Ali Forde added 13 points, nine rebounds and six blocks and Geraldine McCorkell scored 10 points for Idaho, which plays Big Sky foe North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Thursday.
Portland State fell to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Sacramento State 73, Eastern Washington 67: The Eagles (11-5, 4-1 Big Sky) struggled on offense late in the second half and fell to the visiting Hornets (7-10, 5-1) at Reese Court.
EWU led 60-50 with 8:35 left, but Sacramento State closed the game on a 23-7 run.
Takara Burse led the Hornets with 20 points and Adella Randle-El added 18. The Eagles’ Hayley Hodgins tallied a game-high 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting.
(10) George Fox 70, (13) Whitworth 39: Jami Morris scored 15 points and the Bruins (15-0, 6-0) took over sole possession of first place in the Northwest Conference after routing the Pirates (14-1, 5-1) in Newberg, Oregon.
Whitworth made just 4 of 27 first-half shots and fell behind 44-13. K.C. McConnell paced the Pirates with a game-high 19 points.
Blue Mountain 61, CC Spokane 51: Mar’Shay Moore had 22 points and five steals and the Timberwolves (9-5, 2-1) beat the Sasquatch (12-7, 1-2) in a Northwest Athletic Conference game at Spokane Falls CC. CCS’ Rayla Lohman scored 15 points and Khadija Neumeyer added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
North Idaho 90, Southern Idaho 59: Monica Landdeck scored a game-high 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting and the Cardinals (14-6, 3-3) dumped the visiting Golden Eagles (12-9, 3-3) in a Scenic West Athletic Conference game. Landdeck made 4 of 7 3-pointers and 5 of 6 free throws.
