Obituary: Holloway, The Reverend Jonathan A., Md
Age 85
He was born February 24, 1930, in Seattle, WA.
He attended Garfield High School in Seattle, Stanford University and Oberlin College, followed by medical school at the University of Washington.
Two years as a flight surgeon for the U.S. Air Force preceded his ophthalmology residency at University of Pennsylvania and Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, where he was chief resident surgeon from 1961-1962.
He and his wife Barbara Brewer Holloway, moved to Spokane in 1962 and joined the practice of Drs.
Anthony and deRoetth.
In 1968 he joined Rockwood Clinic as a founding partner.
After retiring from Rockwood in 1993, he joined the Eye Care Team where he practiced until 2002.
He was a delegate for the Washington State chapter of the American Medical Society.
Jon was ordained as a deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1976, and remained an active member of the clergy at St. John’s Cathedral for most of his life.
He also sang in the Cathedral Choir.
Jon had many interests and loved flying and riding motorcycles, gardening, and backpacking with the church.
He served on the boards of St. Georges School and the Spokane Symphony, was editor of the Spokane County Medical Society Newsletter, and a member of Spokane Rotary Club.
Later in life, he was often seen in the company of his Corgi dog Cassie.
He is survived by a son, two daughters, and their families including four grandchildren.
Jon was passionate about music throughout his life, and active in encouraging young performers.
