Auditions

Traditions of Christmas Seeking children ages 8-12 with strong vocal and dance skills for holiday production. Rehearsals begin in October and are held on Wednesday evenings. Wheel Throwing – All Levels: Learn or review the basics, refining techniques and individual development. Explore oxidation, reduction and raku methods of firing. June 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15. 10 a.m.-noon. $125. For students 18 and older. Hand Building – All Levels: This class involves work with slabs, extruders and dies, texture and embossing with your own carved rollers, coggles, stamps, etc. Explore oxidation, reduction and raku methods of firing. June 15, 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27, August 3. 10 a.m.-noon. $125. For students 18 and older. Hand Building – All Levels: Learn or review the basics: wedging, pinch and coil, slab and extruder. Surface treatments and glazing are presented. Explore methods for making functional, nonfunctional and sculptural forms. The emphasis in this class is on organic, geometric and abstract or lifelike forms and figures. June 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15. 10 a.m.-noon. $125. For students 18 and older.

1912 Workshop – Intermediate Watercolor: With John Kirkland. The workshop will focus on photo interpretation for use in paintings, composition, finding interesting shapes in an image and how to make a watercolor painting more colorful. Northwest Museum of Art & Culture – Exploration of Sculpture: In this three-part series, students will learn, discuss and discover the differences between geometric and organic sculpture designs. Students will experiment in creating several maquettes in both geometric and organic designs while striving for a balance of interesting use of positive and negative space. After students select their best maquette they will create a final sculpture in plaster. Materials provided by instructor and included in cost of course. Wednesday and June 17. 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., $75. Park Way, Uniontown, Wash. (509) 299-3414. Make a Father’s Day Portrait: Instructor Danica Wixom will help kids ages 8 to 12 make a 5-by-7-inch framed collage portrait of their dad. Students should bring a scanned picture of their dad to use in their collage piece, then will experiment with various paints, markers, pencils and paper collage to make a final mixed media piece. Call for artists

Art on the Prairie Juried Art Show Art on the Prairie was created 2014 as a venue for local artists and hand-crafters to showcase and sell their artwork. The show is dedicated to bringing you the best artists that the Inland Northwest has to offer in an intimate and enjoyable show atmosphere. ArtCurrents Program – The City of Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission is seeking artists for its ArtCurrents Program. The program consists of sculptures on loan from artists around the country. Information packets are available at City Hall or online at www.cdaid.org. Artist proposals are due by 5 p.m. July 10. Call for performers

Fall Folk Festival – Performer applications for the 20th Spokane Fall Folk Festival are now available at www.spokanefolkfestival.org. This year’s festival will be at Spokane Community College on Nov. 14-15. Applications must be postmarked by July 1.
